Blackout to hit Cagayan, Pangasinan

MANILA, Philippines - Parts of Cagayan and Pangasinan will experience a 10-hour power outage today and tomorrow.

The 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. power interruption will affect the areas serviced by the Cagayan Electric Cooperative, said Lilibeth Gaydowen, National Grid Corp. of the Philippines-Northern Luzon spokesperson.

The blackout will pave the way for maintenance works along the Magapit-Sta. Ana and Magapit-Camalaniugan 69-kiloVolt transmission lines.

In Pangasinan, a 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. outage will allow for annual maintenance and testing of the 100-megavolt ampere transformer at the San Manuel substation and the San Manuel-Sapang-Urdaneta/San Jacinto section of the San Manuel-Calasiao 69-kV line.

There will also be maintenance works along the Tumana-Bayambang 69-kV line and testing of a metering equipment at the Central Pangasinan Electric Cooperative Bautista substation.

A 30-minute power outage that will affect the areas linked to the Urdaneta, Rosales, Barangobong, Tayug and Umingan substations will allow for the isolation of the Tumana-Bayambang 69kV line.
