CLARK FREEPORT, Pampanga , Philippines – China Eastern Airlines is launching its Clark-Shanghai flights soon, targeting business travelers, the Clark International Airport Corp. (CIAC) said yesterday.
CIAC president and chief executive Alexander Cauguiran said China Eastern officials toured the Clark International Airport facilities last week to finalize the plan.
“China Eastern is encouraged by the marketability of Clark airport and the increasing number of its local destinations,” Janette Cordero, the airlines’ ground handler representative in the Philippines, said.
Cauguiran, who attended a briefing of China Eastern officials, said the entry of another major airline here reflects the growing investment climate in Central Luzon.
“This will boost Clark’s operations as we are also looking at thousands of business travelers who may choose Clark to fly China Eastern,” he added.
The airline also plans to establish an exclusive airport lounge at Clark since it is a legacy carrier with interstate routes that offers first and business class seats and a frequent-flyer program.
