PNP lauds cops who secured Miss U

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine National Police (PNP) commended policemen who secured the 65th Miss Universe coronation at the Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena in Pasay City yesterday.

“We congratulate the NCRPO (National Capital Region Police Office) under Director Oscar Albayalde for the peaceful holding of the pageant in the country,” PNP chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa said.

“We also congratulate Miss Iris Mittenaere of France for winning the crown and our very own Maxine Medina as well as the other candidates, organizers, tourism department and other government agencies  tasked to secure the event,” Dela Rosa added.

The NCRPO recorded zero crime incidents in Pasay during the event.

“Everything was peaceful and orderly,” Albayalde said.

A total of 1,858 policemen, military and Philippine Coast Guard personnel were deployed for the event.

The PNP imposed a two-day gun ban in the cities of Pasay and Parañaque to prevent criminals from taking advantage of the situation.

Helicopters and drones were also prohibited from flying in the vicinity of the MOA Arena.

Albayalde lauded members of the Task Group Manila and other government agencies involved in the pageant.

He said police would continue to provide security at the Conrad Hotel where the contestants were billeted.
