Boratong nephew’s aide gunned down

MANILA, Philippines - A former police officer who served as driver-bodyguard of the nephew of Pasig City shabu flea market operator Amin Imam Boratong was shot dead in Barangay Sta. Lucia yesterday.

Marlon Nartates died at the scene from gunshots to the body.

Nartates was previously assigned with the Rizal provincial police office but went AWOL (absent without official leave) to work for Acsaimin Boratong, alias Macmac, according to Eastern Police District director Chief Superintendent Romulo Sapitula.

Sapitula said Macmac continued the illegal drug trade of Boratong after he and his second wife, Sheryl Molera, were sentenced to life imprisonment for the operation of the shabu flea market.

Boratong is one of the 19 high-value prisoners serving time at the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa.

Investigation showed that Nartates was waiting for a ride at the corner of Ortigas and Countryside in Barangay Sta. Lucia when six suspects on three motorcycles opened fire at past 1 p.m.

The assailants fled after the attack, witnesses said.
