DINGALAN, Aurora, Philippines – A P100-million road and facility development project leading to this town’s tourist destinations will be undertaken by the government.
The project includes the construction of a coastal road and view decks in the villages of Butas na Bato and Matawe; a pasalubong and tourism information center and an economic enterprise building in Barangay Poblacion, and a tourism front desk in Barangay Paltic.
Mayor Shierwin Taay said the project is in line with the government’s goal to open new and emerging tourist destinations by building access roads.
Aurora has been a beneficiary of a similar undertaking known as the Tourism Road Infrastructure Program (TRIP) being implemented by the departments of tourism and public works and highways.
Taay said Dingalan would be a major tourism destination in the province once the project is completed.
From July to September, the municipal government recorded 18,396 tourist arrivals including 656 foreigners.
Among the town’s known tourist spots are the Lighthouse, Abungan Falls, Lamao Caves, Umiray Beach, Tanawan Falls, Ibona River, Umiray River, Laktas Falls, Matawe Beach and Makibato Falls.
