DAVAO CITY, Philippines - Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo "Pulong" Duterte filed for another leave of absence for three days from July 26 to 28.

Duterte sent a memorandum to Davao City Councilor Edgar Ibuyan Jr. appointing him as the officer-in-charge in his absence.

It was the second time the vice mayor filed a leave of absence for July alone.

He filed for leave while he was acting city mayor when his sister Sara Duterte-Carpio was also on leave a day after their father President Rodrigo Duterte's inauguration at the Malacañang Palace on June 30.

Both Duterte-Carpio and Duterte reported for work on July 22.

Although Duterte-Carpio was advised to rest by her physicians when she went for a medical check-up at the St. Luke's Hospital in Quezon City on Monday, City Information Office head Jeffrey Tupas clarified the mayor is still working.

"She was advised to rest but she is not on leave, she's working," Tupas explained.

In an interview with Ibuyan earlier, he said he just got the memo at 9 a.m. Wednesday.

"I don't have any idea for the vice mayor's reason for absence," he added.

"As such you shall discharge the functions and duties in accordance with the provisions of the local government code of 1991," Duterte included in the memo.
