SARIAYA, Quezon, Philippines – A woman died and 42 others were injured when a passenger bus rammed a restaurant along Maharlika Highway in Barangay Sto. Cristo here around midnight yesterday.
Jessa Lagrazon Estimo, 19, who was sleeping in Kabayan Restaurant when the accident occurred, died at the scene, said Superintendent Harold Depositar, Sariaya police chief.
Depositar said another restaurant employee identified as Joselito Dimayuga and 41 passengers of the bus were injured.
Investigation showed the driver of the Raymond bus (UWE-723) Leandro Deguito, 32, lost control of the wheel when he tried to overtake a police vehicle.
The victims were brought to the Greg Hospital, Lucena United Doctors Hospital and Quezon Medical Center for treatment.
