6 die in Ilocos, South Cotabato road mishaps

KORONADAL CITY, Philippines – Six persons, including a pregnant woman, died in separate vehicular accidents in South Cotabato and Ilocos Sur on Sunday.

Motorcycle driver Marvin Fronda, 25, died at the scene. His wife, Maricel, 24, who was three months pregnant and a certain Dexter John Dedua, 24, died while being treated at the Doctor’s Clinic and Hospital in Koronadal City.

Case officer Police Officer 2 Federico Pulido said Fronda was driving in Barangay New Iloilo, Tantangan town when he collided with an Isuzu car at past 7 p.m.

Car driver Armando Sormillo surrendered to the police.

Meanwhile, in Ilocos Sur, tricycle driver Eduardo Laguardia Sr., 33, died at the scene while his wife, Loreline, 33, and their son, Eduardo Jr., were declared dead on arrival at the Roque Ablan Sr. Memorial Hospital.

The family was traveling along Apayao road in Barangay 23, San Nicolas town when they collided with a car driven by Maximo Domingo, 57, according to town police traffic division chief Police Officer 3 Elyzer Tuzon.

Domingo and his companion, Marlon Agodon, 36, were listed in critical condition at the Marcos Memorial Hospital in Batac City.

Tuzon said Domingo tried to overtake another vehicle.
