MANILA, Philippines — A woman was arrested while trying to bring in one heat-sealed transparent plastic of suspected methamphetamine, or shabu, inside a police jail in Alaminos City on Wednesday afternoon.
The suspect Amelyn Guevara, 32, was also trying to bring drug paraphernalia to the jail where husband is detained, a state news agency reported.
Guevara from Barangay Poblacion, asked clearance from duty jailed PO1 Kepler Garguena to visit her husband, Noli, and bring him snacks.
At that juncture, Garguena asked PO1 Lee Jayson Gumera to assist him in inspecting the blue sling bag of Guevara.
The policemen found one sachet containing the crystalline substance and one aluminum foil, both placed in a pack of cigarette inside her bag.
The woman is now under the custody of the Alaminos City Police.
The confiscated items were submitted to the Philippine National Police's crime laboratory.
Guevara will be charged with violation of Article II, Section 11 and 12 of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
