TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – Eighteen persons were hospitalized after eating tuna in Naguilian, Isabela on Friday.
The victims suffered dizziness, nausea, vomiting, difficulty in breathing, numbness, itchiness, and abdominal and chest pain, according to Chief Inspector Sherwin Concha, town police chief.
Concha said the victims bought the tuna from a vendor who peddled it in the villages of Sta. Victoria and Bagong Sikat.
He said the fish was cooked in different ways, but most of the victims were male, who made the fish into “kilawin,” for their “pulutan” for their drinking session.
Officers from the municipal health office took samples of the fish for examination.
