Ex-village chief nabbed for 60 estafa cases

CAMP DIEGO SILANG, La Union, Philippines– A former barangay captain in Agoo, La Union, who was ranked fifth among Region 1’s most wanted persons, was arrested in Barangay Rafael Reuda, San Jose City, Nueva Ecija yesterday.

Leonardo Camat, former chairman of Barangay San Joaquin Sur, was charged with at least 60 cases of estafa and violation of the anti-bouncing check law, said Senior Superintendent Angelito Dumangeng, La Union police director.

The cases were filed before the Agoo Regional Trial Court Branch 32 and at the Municipal Trial Court of Agoo.
