TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – A band of suspected New People’s Army guerrillas raided a mine firm and torched equipment and vehicles in Dinapigue, Isabela on Wednesday.
The rebels arrived at the compound of the Geogen-Nickel Asia Corp. in Barangay Dimaluade at around 7:30 a.m. and rounded up the employees and security guards, according to Isabela Police director Senior Superintendent Amorsolo dela Cruz.
The armed men burned six sport utility vehicles, a payloader, a backhoe, a bulldozer and a dump truck owned by the company. ?
The rebels fled taking with them the guards’ four shotguns, a 9mm pistol and a .38 caliber revolver.
