MANILA, Philippines - Officials yesterday condemned the killing of the chief of Marawi City police by unidentified assailants in the city’s Luk’s-a-Datu district on Saturday afternoon.
Superintendent Al Abner Wahab Santos was driving his Mitsubishi Montero on his way to work when he was waylaid by gunmen in a similar vehicle at past 2 p.m.
Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Gov. Mujiv Hataman will lead a meeting today in Marawi City to discuss the incident and plan how the police, the military and local executives can address the security situation in the area.
Investigators have yet to determine the motive for the killing.
