MANILA, Philippines –  Three towns in the province of Aurora remain not passable due to heavy rains and strong winds brought about by Typhoon “Lando."

Typhoon “Lando” caused landslides along Baler, Casiguran Road making towns of Dinalungan, Dilasag and Casiguran in Aurora isolated and impassable to any type of vehicles.

The Philippine Army said several houses were destroyed and trees were uprooted in the three towns after “Lando” made a landfall at 1 a.m.

Aside from the three towns, the Villa Maria-Bongabon Road is also not passable to all type of vehicles due to landslide and overflowing of the river.

To ensure safety of the residents in the said towns, electric power supply was cut-off since 9 p.m. of Saturday.

The Philippine Army assured the public that they are now coordinating with other agencies for clearing operations.

On Sunday, the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported a total of 66 barangays in the towns of Baler, Casiguran, Dilasag, Dinalunga, Dingalan, Dipaculao, Ma. Aurora, and San Luis were affected by “Lando” equivalent to 8, 392 individuals or 1,796 families.
