Boy drowns in Isabela river

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – A 12-year-old boy drowned after his friend reportedly pushed him into a river in Benito Soliven town, Isabela over the weekend.

Jaycee Gelacio was declared dead on arrival at the Isabela Doctor’s Hospital in Ilagan City, according to town police chief Senior Inspector Ignacio Layugan.

Reports said Gelacio and his friend, whose name was withheld, were among a group of youths who went to the Pinacanauan River in Barangay District 2.

The youths were preparing to take a dip when the suspect pushed Gelacio into the water.

Police turned the suspect over to the custody of the municipal social welfare and development office.
