MANILA, Philippines - Two suspected members of the New People’s Army were captured after a clash with Army troops in Camarines Sur yesterday, the military said.
Capt. Mardjorie Panesa, spokesman for the Army’s 9th division, said government troops were patrolling Barangay Sagrada in Iriga City when they encountered an undetermined number of rebels at 5:10 a.m.
Two baby armalites, an M203 rifle and subversive documents were seized from the rebels, whose identities are still being validated.
The Task Group CamSur and the 22nd Infantry Battalion have turned over the captured rebels to the Iriga police for the filing of complaints.
