Batangas gets 2 new legislative districts

MANILA, Philippines - Batangas now has six legislative districts.

President Aquino has signed Republic Act 10673 on Aug. 19, creating the fifth district composed of Batangas City and the sixth district of Lipa City.

RA 10673 states that incumbent representatives of the second and fourth districts of Batangas shall continue to represent Batangas City and Lipa City respectively, until the new representatives of the fifth and six districts shall have been elected and qualified.

The first district of Batangas is composed of the towns of Balayan, Calaca, Calatagan, Lemery, Lian, Nasugbu, Taal and Tuy while the towns of Bauan, Lobo, Mabini, San Luis, San Pascual and Tingloy belong to the second district.

The third district is composed of Tanauan  City and the towns of Agoncillo, Alitagtag, Balete, Cuenca, Laurel, Malvar, Mataas na Kahoy, San Nicolas, Sta. Teresita, Sto. Tomas and Talisay.  

The towns of Ibaan, Padre Garcia, Rosario, San Jose, San Juan and Taysan comprise the fourth district. 

The President also signed RA 10675 converting Gen. Trias in Cavite into a city.
