MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Agrarian Reform has signed a memorandum of agreement with the Department of Agriculture and the Sugar Regulatory Administration for the establishment of sugar block farms in Cagayan.
Provincial agrarian reform program officer II Virgilio Acasili said the sugarcane block farming project would be implemented in Tuao, Piat and Solana towns.
Acasili said the farming project involves lands owned by agrarian reform beneficiaries.
“The program aims to make local sugar production cost-efficient and profitable by increasing yield per hectare,” he said.
