NORTH COTABATO, Philippines – The provincial government of North Cotabato has ordered an investigation on the reported death of a three-year-old child and the hospitalization of three other children after eating boiled cassava in Pikit town.
Gov. Emmylou Taliño Mendoza on Wednesday assured the victims’ families of financial assistance.
Reports said the victims complained of abdominal pains and dizziness after eating cassava.
Neighbors rushed them to the hospital, where the youngest of the victims was pronounced dead on arrival.
