ARMM denies 2014 infra projects lack public bidding

MANILA, Philippines - The 2014 Commission on Audit (COA) report on the lack of public bidding covering P20.1 million worth of infrastructure projects in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) refers to the transactions of one of its provinces and not the regional government.

In a letter to The STAR, Amir Mawallil, executive director of ARMM’s information office, said the story was about the province of Maguindanao and not ARMM.

“It must be noted that while Maguindanao is a component province of the regional government, the two government units have different allocations for projects that are also implemented separately,” Mawallil said.

He said all projects implemented by ARMM underwent competitive bidding processes.

The STAR earlier reported that the COA report questioning the lack of public bidding in last year’s infrastructure projects in Maguindano refers to ARMM.
