Road repairs on Edsa southbound start tonight

Traffic snarls are expected to hound motorists as the Department of Public Works and Highways begin repairs along Edsa southbound starting tonight. 

MANILA, Philippines - Prior to the implementation of the government's  Express Bus Project on Monday, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will undertake road repairs along the southbound of Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (Edsa) starting tonight until Monday morning. 

In an advisory, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said the DPWH will do the road reblocking and repairs for the first time along the Edsa southbound beginning 10 p.m. Friday, March 20.

The DPWH will also do repairs on the following areas:  

SOUTHBOUND:

-   Along Mindanao Avenue from Road 8 to North Avenue, 1st lane

-   Along EDSA fronting Victoria Tower, 2nd lane from sidewalk (144 linear meters) (alternate routes will be Mother Ignacia and Timog Ave.)

EASTBOUND:

-   Along Batasan Road from Ilang-Ilang Street to Payatas Road, 1st inner lane

-   Along C.P. Garcia Avenue from Velasquez Street to Katipunan Avenue, 2nd lane

Emerson Carlos, MMDA Assistant General Manager for Operations, said DPWH-National Capital Region Director Reynaldo Tagudando has recommended the reblocking and repair of the areas this weekend for maintenance purposes.

All affected roads will be fully passable by 5 a.m. on Monday.

The MMDA advised motorists to avoid the  areas and instead use alternative routes.
