Pangasinan health exec hurt in gun attack

MANAOAG, Pangasinan, Philippines  – The assistant health officer of this province was wounded in an attack by motorcycle-riding men here Wednesday night.

Jeremy Rosario went to the Mapandan Community Hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound in the shoulder, said Superintendent Ferdinand de Asis, spokesman for the provincial police office.

Rosario was later transferred to the Nazareth General Hospital in Dagupan City, where he was reported to be in stable condition.

De Asis said Rosario was on his way home, driving a government vehicle, when he was shot in Barangay Baritao here.

Police officers believe the assailants had been tailing Rosario, who had just come from the Mapandan Community Hospital, where he serves as director.

They recovered a bullet shell for a caliber .45 pistol at the crime scene.

A special investigation task group has been formed to solve Rosario’s shooting. Investigators have yet to determine the motive for the attack.
