CATBALOGAN CITY, Philippines – US Ambassador Philip Goldberg will visit Tacloban and Palo in Leyte today to witness the turnover of projects funded by the US government in areas hit by Super Typhoon Yolanda.
Goldberg is expected to arrive at the Daniel Z. Romualdez Airport in Tacloban City at around 9 a.m. He will proceed to San Joaquin Central School in Barangay San Joaquin in Palo for the turnover of school buildings.
After Palo, Goldberg will return to Tacloban for the turnover of sari-sari or min-convenience stores and health facilities in Barangay Utap.
Last year, the United States Agency for International Development and firms such as Coca-Cola and Procter & Gamble rehabilitated nearly 1,000 sari-sari stores in Leyte.
Police officers have been deployed to secure Goldberg, regional police director Chief Superintendent Asher Dolina said.
