Mar orders probe into Davao firetruck crash

HIstorically, the month of March has the most number of fire incidents recorded in the country.

MANILA, Philippines - Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas has ordered an investigation into the accident in Davao Oriental where three firefighters were killed while four others were injured when a fire truck lost its brake and crashed.

In a statement Wednesday, Roxas said an investigation is in order into the accident which cost the lives of Arnel John Angsinco,Ludovico Ponce and Nico Corambao to prevent similar incidents in the future. 

"Iimbestigahan po ang aksidenteng ito upang malaman kung papaano ito maiiwasan sa hinaharap," Roxas said. 

He also assured the families of the three firefighters and the four others who were injured of government assistance.

"Makasisiguro po ang lahat na ang mga nasawi at ang apat nilang kasamang nasugatan sa aksidente ay makatatanggap ng suporta at tulong mula sa pamahalaan," Roxas added.

Reports said the fighters came from Mati City to help putout a blaze in Manay when the brakes of the firetruck they were riding malfunctioned, causing it to overshoot the road and crash.
