22 fall in Batangas gun, drug raids

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines  – Twenty-two persons were arrested for alleged involvement in gun and drug activities following a two-day operation in Batangas over the weekend.

Twelve of the suspects were charged with illegal possession of firearms while the rest faced drug cases before the provincial prosecutor’s office, Senior Superintendent Omega Jireh Fidel, Batangas police director, said.

The arrests were made after local police conducted Oplan Paglalansag Omega and Limbat Sibat in the cities of Lipa, Tanauan and Batangas, and in the towns of Lemery, San Juan, Cuenca, San Jose, Lian, Talisay and Balayan. 

Police recovered 12 firearms, 49 bullets and more than 20 plastic sachets said to contain shabu.
