Manila fire razes 2 schools

Fire breaks out in Manila, destroying two schools, one of which is undergoing renovation. 

MANILA, Philippines — An estimated P35 million in properties went up in smoke after fire razed two schools in Manila Tuesday night.

Radio reports said the blaze started around 9:30 p.m. inside the canteen of Gregorio del Pilar Elementary School at the corner of Abad Santos and Recto.

The flames then quickly spread to an adjacent school. Firefighters managed to put out the fire around 2 a.m. on Wednesday.

No one was reported hurt in the fire. Arson investigators are still looking into the origin of the blaze.
