MANILA, Philippines — The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) recently arrested a suspect in the mauling of actor Vhong Navarro last year.

Ferdinand Guerrero had been ducking authorities since the Pasay Regional Trial Court Branch 271 ordered his arrest alongside businessman Cedric Lee, commercial model Deniece Cornejo and martial artist Simeon "Zimmer" Raz Jr.

In a radio report, NBI Anti-Illegal Drugs Unit chief Eric Isidoro said Monday that Guerrero has been placed under custody after one year in hiding.

Authorities nabbed Guerrero in a Makati City condominium along Ayala Avenue.

Guerrero was charged with grave coercion and serious illegal detention for among those who beat up Navarro in a Taguig City condominium on Jan. 22, 2014.

In March, Guerrero filed a counter-affidavit denying that he was involved in the mauling incident.

Raz, Cornejo and Lee, meanwhile, were allowed to post bail from the criminal case in September after spending time in detention. - Camille Diola
