CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – Six persons, including three businessmen, were killed in separate ambuscades in Laguna, Batangas and Quezon on Tuesday and Thursday.
Eduardo Almarinez, 55, and his companions, Rizaldy Bayona and a certain alias Rodel, were eating in an owner-type jeep (DEZ-725) while it was parked in a subdivision in Barangay San Antonio in Biñan, Laguna when unidentified assailants attacked them at 4:20 p.m on Tuesday.
Almarinez and Rodel died at the scene while Bayona was pronounced dead on arrival at the Perpetual Help Hospital.
Nelson Pamintuan, owner of a trucking company, was on his way to work in Calatagan town when two men on a motorcycle shot at his car along the road in Barangay Sambat, Balayan town at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Pamintuan died at the scene, said Senior Inspector Ronnie Golfo, Balayan police chief.
Police are eyeing business rivalry as the motive for the killings.
In Bantilan, Quezon, Cesar Gulaylay Gusi Sr., 66, a businessman based in San Juan, Batangas and his helper Reynaldo Castro Castillo, 47, were killed in an ambush in Barangay Manggalang around 4 p.m. on Thursday.
Superintendent Eduardo Mallo, Bantilan police chief, said the victims were about to leave a gas station when they were shot.
