BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – A woman died when she tried to save her four-year-old daughter from being hit by a truck driven by her husband in Toboso town, Negros Occidental last Thursday.
Virgilita Umba-o of Barangay Jose was pinned under the truck loaded with sugarcane, said Senior Inspector Robert Mansueto, town police chief.
Mansueto said the victim’s husband, Ramelo, was maneuvering the truck when their daughter, Jesse Mae, ran toward the back of the vehicle.
Virgilita ran after her daughter, but she was hit by the truck and died at the scene.
Jesse Mae, who suffered injuries, was brought to a hospital for treatment.
