MANILA, Philippines - The Commision on Elections (Comelec) has affirmed its decision granting a petition for the recall of Puerto Princesa, Palawan Mayor Lucilo Bayron.
In a resolution last Dec. 29, the Comelec junked Bayron’s motion for reconsideration and upheld the recommendation and findings of the office of the deputy executive director for operations on the sufficiency of the petition.
The Comelec earlier granted the recall petition filed by Alroben Goh against Bayron, citing loss of trust and confidence by the people of Puerto Princesa.
The Comelec dismissed Bayron’s argument that the petition was premature and that it did not conform to the required form and substance.
Bayron also questioned the number of signatories to the petition.
