Acosta was rendered comatose in an intensive care unit of a private hospital after he was dragged and ran over by an Isuzu Sportivo, driven by Mark Ian Libunao last week in Cubao, Quezon City.
Reports said that Acosta flagged down Libunao for a traffic violation when the driver reportedly closed the side windows of the SUV and sped.
Acosta's arm was allegedly caught in the closed windows while the SUV sped away, dragging the MMDA traffic enforcer several meters.
Acosta was dragged several meters before his arm was freed from the window. He sustained severe injuries in the head and other parts of his body.
Early this week, Quezon City Assistant Prosecutor Corazon Romano has filed charges of reckless imprudence resulting in serious physical injuries and driving with an expired driver’s license against Libunao.
Romano recommended a bail bond of P8,000 for the provisional release of Libunao.
