MANILA, Philippines - Two unidentified gunmen ambushed and killed a former transport group spokesperson on Monday night in Quezon City.
The victim identified as Rogel Fernandez, 45, former national coordinator and spokesman of Pasang Masda, suffered several gunshot wounds from a .45 pistol.
Initial reports from the Quezon City Police District said that Fernandez was driving his maroon colored Mitsubishi Montero around 7 p.m. along Regalado Avenue when he was ambushed.
Fernandez was at the corner of Commonwealth Avenue in Greater Fairview in Barangay Lagro when two gunmen on board a motorcycle drove by and shot him several times.
Police said that according to witnesses, the gunmen fired at Fernandez again as the victim was trying to get off his vehicle.
Investigators said the gunmen had two lookouts, who fled on foot after making sure that Fernandez was already dead.
Police investigators are still looking into the motive of the killing.
