COTABATO CITY, Philippines – A soldier who reportedly went berserk shot dead a fellow soldier and a guest at a military camp here Sunday night.
Pfc. Ian Murillo of the 6th Civil-Military Operations Battalion was placed under the custody of his superiors, said Capt. Joan Petinglay, civil affairs chief of the Army’s 6th Infantry Division.
Murillo reportedly shot dead Staff Sgt. Eduardo Mutia and Barak Estina, a civilian, following a quarrel at their camp in P. C. Hill.
Murillo was having drinks with Mutia and Estina when they reportedly argued over an unknown issue. Estina was Mutia’s guest.
Mutia and Estina died at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds. Murillo surrendered to his superiors after the incident.
Petinglay said investigators are expected to file charges against Murillo before a military court this week.
