TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – Charlemagne “Charlie” Lagasca, The STAR reporter in Northern Luzon, died of a colon ailment in Solano, Nueva Vizcaya at past midnight yesterday. He was 46 years old.

Before joining The STAR in 2000, Lagasca worked with several non-government organizations. He joined the provincial government’s Earthquake Rehabilitation Program following the July 1990 killer quake in Luzon.

He founded in 2011 the “Voice of the Sierra Madre,” a weekly publication that exposed government corruption and environmental destruction in Nueva Vizcaya.

He left behind his wife Vilma, their three children and grandchildren.

The date of his interment has yet to be announced.
