Suspect yields drugs, guns and grenade in North Cotabato

NORTH Cotabato, Philippines -  Policemen arrested Wednesday morning another large-scale drug trafficker in Kabacan town in the province and seized from him shabu, three fragmentation grenades and handguns.

The suspect, Abubakar Abdul Mantis, did not resist arrest when agents of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and members of the Kabacan municipal police barged into his hideout toserve a warrant for his arrest.

Mantis is wanted for drug trafficking offenses.

He is also suspected as a gun-for-hire, involved in recent killings in Kabacan and nearby towns.

The arrest order for Mantis was issued by Judge Laureaño Alzate of the Regional Trial Court Branch 22 in Kabacan.

Mantis yielded three live fragmentation grenades, a .45 caliber pistol and a .357 Magnum revolver to the police operatives that raided his lair in Barangay Kayaga in west of Kabacan.

Members of the Kabacan municipal police had arrested more than a dozen local drug dealers in the past eight weeks.
