MANILA, Philippines - An additional 2,779 families rendered homeless by Typhoon Pablo in the municipalities of Banganga, Cateel, Boston, and Tarragona in Davao Oriental transferred to their new homes yesterday.
The shelter units were built through the Modified Shelter Assistance Program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in partnership with the provincial government, which provided the land where the permanent housing units were built.
DSWD Secretary Corazon Soliman and Davao Oriental Gov. Corazon Malanyaon attended the turnover ceremony.
The DSWD said 10,716 housing units have been completed for Pablo survivors.
Each two-room unit has a lot area of 70 square meters.
