MANILA, Philippines - The wife of Camarines Norte Gov. Edgardo Tallado has surfaced after being reported missing last Friday.
During an interview with DZMM, Josefina Tallado clarified that she was not kidnapped and that she escaped home from fear of her husband.
"Kaya po ako narito para linawin na hindi po ako nawawala at hindi po ako na-kidnap. Ang totoo pong pangyayari ay kusa akong umalis o tumakas sa bahay namin kasi alam kong hindi na ako safe sa sarili kong tahanan," Josefina said.
The conflict between the couple started when Tallado accused his wife of uploading naked pictures of the governor's alleged mistress on social networking site Facebook.
"Nakita ko lang po pero wala akong hawak. Nakita ko lang meron silang sex video saka mga pictures together. Siguro 'yun talaga ang ikinagagalit niya sa'kin," the wife said.
The governor then confiscated Josefina's cellphone and other gadgets, destroyed her laptop and cut off Internet connection in their house.
Josefina received a message from her friend Darlene Francisco on Friday, who helped her escape, making the incident look like she was kidnapped.
Josefina was supposed to drive Francisco to her home in Barangay Tres, Vinzons, Camarines Norte. The governor's wife instructed her security personnel to wait in the house while she left riding the Toyota Fortuner and later on abandoning it in Barangay Napolidan, Lupi, Camarines Sur to ride a motorcycle with Francisco.
