ILOILO CITY, Philippines – An 82-year-old woman was stabbed by two suspected robbers who broke into her house in Oton town, Iloilo Monday night.
Restituta Estecomen was taken to the Iloilo Doctors’ Hospital for treatment of a stab wound in the back.
Estecomen was alone in their house in Barangay Buray when the attack occurred at around 7 p.m., as her son was driving a tricycle for a living.
Senior Inspector Jigger Gimeno, Oton police chief, said the robbers, whose faces were covered with bonnets, fled after hearing the sound of a tricycle.
The suspects took with them the victim’s cell phone worth P3,000.
Police recovered a pair of slippers and a knife believed to have been left behind by the robbers.
