Village chief arrested for slay

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – A village chairman was arrested for allegedly killing a man and wounding the latter’s son in Bangar, La Union Friday night.

Marlo Lucina, 32, of Barangay Quintarong, was allegedly drunk when he was arrested at his house by responding police officers for allegedly killing Krisolito Munio and wounding six-year-old Stephen Nikolai, said town police chief Chief Inspector Silverio Ordinado Jr.

Ordinado said Munio told his family about the man who attacked him before he died of a bullet wound in the chest.

The boy, who was taken to a hospital for treatment, was sitting on his father’s lap at the porch of their house when Lucina reportedly barged in and shot them.

Police said Lucina, who tested positive for alcohol, refused to surrender the gun used in the attack.
