MANILA, Philippines - Detained Senator Jinggoy Estrada has been allowed to leave the Philippine National Police Custodial Center in Camp Crame on Wednesday for a medical examination San Juan City.
The Sandiganbayan Fifth Division approved the petition for Estrada to undergo an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) procedure at the Cardinal Santos Medical Center due to pain from his shoulder and neck.
Estrada will be escorted from the police camp to the hospital around 8 a.m. on September 24.
The camp of Estrada earlier requested the tribunal, chaired by Associate Justice Roland Jurado, that the legislator be allowed to under a medical checkup.
Estrada is facing plunder and graft charges before the anti-graft court in connection with the P10 billion pork barrel scam.
