BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – Escalante City in Negros Occidental lost at least P2 million in cash to still unidentified men who ransacked its cashier’s office last weekend, authorities said.
Superintendent Leo Batiles, Escalante City police chief, said they are eyeing an “inside job” in the robbery.
He said at least 11 City Hall workers, who have direct access to the cashier’s office, are now under investigation – seven employees of the cashier’s office, three watchmen, and a janitor.
He said the robbery could have happened Friday night, Saturday or Sunday.
