SC suspends work in Metro Manila courts

MANILA, Philippines - The Supreme Court on Tuesday night announced that work in all courts in Metro Manila on Wednesday due to Typhoon "Glenda."

SC spokesman Theodore Te said that executive judges of courts outside Metro Manila aregiven discretion to suspend work on Wednesday.

Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno on Tuesday afternoon ordered an early dismissal for all courts in Metro Manila before "Glenda" made landfall in Albay province.

The SC also announced that the filing of Bar applications is extended until Thursday, July 17, because of the typhoon.

"Glenda" slammed into Rapu Rapu town in Albay at around 5 p.m. It was expected to hit Metro Manila before noon Wednesday.

Malacañang has also suspended work in government offices and classes in all school levels in Metro Manila and in areas placed under public storm warning signal number 2.
