INC preacher dies in S. Kudarat mishap

MAGUINDANAO, Philippines   – A preacher of the Iglesia ni Cristo died while three others were injured when their car fell into a ravine in Sultan Kudarat Sunday.

Freddie Itak, 40, died on the spot, said Senior Inspector Ismael Madin, chief of the Sultan Kudarat police.

Itak and his companions, Ariel Rizaldo, 42; Jay Tubio, 32; and Jun Bikog, 30, were on their way to Lebak town from North Cotabato when their car figured in an accident along the Cotabato-Davao Highway in Barangay Ladja.

Rescuers had to use a harness to lift the victims from the scene. The victims were rushed to a hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, a man died while six others, including a police officer, were injured in two separate vehicular accidents in Laguna and Cavite Sunday.

Driver Ramon Liquido died on the spot when his car smashed into an Isuzu wagon and a Mitsubishi Lancer in Barangay Milagrosa, Calamba City at around 6 a.m., said city police chief Superintendent Marvin Saro.

The injured victims – identified as Allan Novicio, Virginia Novicio, Trixie Ann Novicio, and Jimmy Maiquez – were rushed to the Calamba Medical Hospital and JP Rizal Hospital for treatment.

In Cavite, Police Officer 1 Junar Sagun, 31, was hit by a motorcycle driven by Bantay Bayan member Mark Vincent Caballero in Barangay Gavino Maderan in GMA town.

Caballero, who was also hurt in the accident, was reportedly pursuing a motorist who ignored a checkpoint when he accidentally bumped Sagun.
