Parts of Tarlac, N. Ecija to suffer 11-hour blackout

ANGELES CITY, Philippines  – An 11-hour power outage is set to hit almost the entire province of Tarlac and two towns in Nueva Ecija tomorrow, the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) said yesterday.

NGCP regional communications officer Ernest Vidal said the power interruption was due to the annual maintenance work and repair of power transformers and equipment, alignment of the Concepcion-Camiling disconnection switch and hotspot correction of the transformer’s disconnection function.

Areas to be affected by the 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. blackout are those served by the Tarlac 1 Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Tarelco 1) and the Tarlac Electric, Inc. (TEI).

Vidal identified the affected areas as Tarlac City and the towns of San Manuel, Moncada, Paniqui, Anao, Gerona, Ramos, Pura, Sta. Ignacia, Victoria, San Clemente, Mayantoc and Camiling, all in Tarlac, and the Nampicuan and Cuyapo towns in Nueva Ecija.

He said normal operations will resume once the work is completed. He advised consumers to make the necessary preparations for the scheduled power interruption.
