Households in P’sinan town to get solar home systems

PANGASINAN, Philippines – At least 326 households from 19 barangays in Sual town, which hosts a coal-fired power plant, will be provided with solar home systems within the year.

Froilan Gregory Romualdez, senior manager for external affairs of TeaM Energy that operates the 1,200-megawatt power plant, said a memorandum of agreement will be signed by the Department of Energy (DOE), TeaM Energy Foundation, Central Pangasinan Electric Cooperative, and the Sual municipal government led by Mayor Roberto Arcinue.

Romualdez said the DOE will take the lead in the project by providing hardware like solar panels and lights, while TeaM Energy will handle community organizing and social preparations.
