MANILA, Philippines - Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation rescued 19 women, some of whom came from disaster-ravaged areas of the country, during a raid on a bar in Pasay City Wednesday dawn.
A radio report said some of the rescued young women from the Volcano KTV along Taft Avenue extension were survivors of supertyphoon Yolanda and the powerful earthquake in Bohol last year.
Operatives of the NBI's Anti-Human Trafficking Division swooped down on the establishment after receiving information that the KTV bar has been employing minors, the report added.
The report said that some of the women were found inside a so-called "aquarium," a room where prospective customers select female partners for the night.
Authorities are now preparing charges against the owner and staff of the KTV bar.
