Makati distributes cash gifts to senior residents

MANILA, Philippines - The Makati City government on Tuesday started the distribution of cash gifts to some 63,432 senior residents through its Elderly Welfare Program.

According to the city government, the distribution of the P2,000 to P3,000 cash gifts will be given to senior residents who are BLU Card holders. The distribution will happen on scheduled dates until June 21, 2014 at designated venues.

Qualified beneficiaries will receive half of the yearly cash gift for specific age groups, as follows:  P2,000 for those aged 60 to 69 years old, P3,000 for those aged 70 to 79 years old, and P4,000 for those aged 80 and above. The cash gift for all age groups is given in two equal installments every June and December. 

Tuesday’s distribution happened from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in barangays Kasilawan and San Isidro at their respective barangay halls.

For beneficiaries of Barangays Cembo, Dasmariñas, Forbes Park and San Lorenzo, distribution will take place simultaneously on June 4, Wednesday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at their respective barangay halls. For Barangay Poblacion, the distribution will be done at the covered court on the same date and time.

BLU Card holders of Barangays Bangkal, Bel-Air, Urdaneta and Southside can get their cash incentives at their respective barangay halls, while recipients in Brgy. Palanan recipients can get theirs at the covered court on June 5, Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

On June 6, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., the distribution will be done simultaneously in the barangay halls of Barangays Magallanes and Sta. Cruz, at the covered courts of Barangays La Paz and West Rembo, and the Elderly Health Care Center of Barangay Tejeros.

From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, the cash gifts will be given in Barangays South Cembo, East Rembo and Guadalupe Viejo.

Recipients in  Barangays Pinagkaisahan, Rizal, Singkamas and Carmona will get their cash gifts on June 9 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

On June 19 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., the distribution of cash incentives to BLU Card holders will be done at the covered courts of Barangays Comembo and Guadalupe Nuevo  and in Barangays Pitogo and Valenzuela.

Recipients in Barangay Olympia will get their cash gifts from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on June 20.

For Barangay Pio del Pilar, BLU Card holders will get their cash gifts at the San Isidro National High School on June 21, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The BLU Card Program, launched in 2002 as a burial assistance program providing a P3,000-burial assistance to beneficiaries of a deceased BLU card holder, was later expanded to grant financial assistance to senior citizens during their lifetime through an annual cash gift for their daily expenses, especially on food and medicine.
