ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – Authorities arrested on Saturday a suspected member of the Abu Sayyaf bandit group, tagged in the kidnapping of six members of Jehovah’s Witness in Sulu 12 years ago.
Harijin Jinny, alias Kim, 36, was working as a security guard at a public market in this city when intelligence units of the police and the military arrested him for kidnapping.
The charges against the suspect stemmed from the kidnapping of six members of Jehovah’s Witness in Patikul town in 2002. Two of the victims were beheaded and were dumped near a gas station in Jolo.
Jinny did not resist arrest as he denied the charges against him. He said he was a victim of a case of mistaken identity, as he has never gone to Sulu.
The suspect expressed the belief authorities could be looking for his brother-in-law.
