Man who shot Kalinga mayor surrenders

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet, Philippines – A Kalinga tribesman who allegedly shot and wounded Pasil town Mayor James Edduba in Tabuk City last Saturday night gave himself up to authorities a day after the incident.

Senior Superintendent Victor Wanchakan, Kalinga police director, said the suspect, Kitkiti La-os Suyam, who hails from Badsao, Tinglayan town, was pressured to surrender after a manhunt was launched against him. 

Suyam allegedly shot Edduba, hitting him in the hips, after the mayor’s vehicle ran over a dog along the highway in Barangay Magnao, Tabuk City. – Artemio Dumlao, Raymund Catindig
