Samar kids get chocolates donated by US students

CATBALOGAN CITY , Philippines– Children in three villages in Eastern Samar that were ravaged by Super Typhoon Yolanda were surprised by a donation of imported chocolates from students in the United States.

The children received the chocolates from the men of the Army’s 8th Infantry Division when they conducted on Tuesday medical and dental missions and distributed relief goods and hygiene kits to Yolanda victims in Barangay Roxas in Giporlos, Barangay Sta. Rosa in Balangiga, and Barangay 10 Poblacion in Lawaan, all in Eastern Samar.

The chocolates were donated by the students of Montessori International School in Arizona.

“It is my first time to taste this type of delicious chocolate,” said one of the children in the dialect.

Maj. Gen. Jet Velarmino, 8th ID commander, also handed over food packs and hygiene kits to nearly 900 Yolanda victims in the three communities. – With Jaime Laude
